Job OverviewCisco is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Technical Leader for its Customer Experience organization in Bangalore. This role is designed for a senior engineering professional with strong expertise in Golang, AWS, Kubernetes and microservices who can guide technical direction while delivering secure, scalable and reliable software.The position combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership. You will help shape architecture, lead complex features and projects, improve engineering practices, mentor engineers and collaborate with product, design and other technical teams. The role also involves production reliability, monitoring, threat modeling and customer-focused product innovation.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop secure, clean and maintainable software using Golang and modern cloud technologies.Lead technical work from architecture and design through implementation, testing and completion.Build and evolve cloud applications primarily on AWS with strong attention to scalability, reliability and security.Apply microservices architecture and Kubernetes concepts to create robust distributed solutions.Influence software architecture and engineering roadmaps based on product requirements and customer needs.Produce technical design documentation and contribute to clear user-facing documentation.Debug application issues during development and in production and drive effective resolution of technical problems.Develop high-quality unit tests and promote strong software engineering standards across teams.Design monitoring capabilities that provide useful operational visibility and support proactive reliability improvements.Participate in threat modeling and identify security, reliability and operational risks before they affect customers.Lead postmortems, root-cause analysis and improvement activities for production incidents.Coordinate work across multiple teams, manage dependencies and communicate delivery trade-offs.Mentor engineers and encourage knowledge sharing through design sessions, demonstrations and technical discussions.Contribute ideas for product improvements and new capabilities based on customer needs, market awareness and technology trends.Estimate technical work accurately and support planning for milestones and project completion.Required SkillsCandidates should have substantial software engineering experience with strong hands-on Golang development skills. Practical experience building and operating cloud applications on AWS is essential. The role also requires working knowledge of microservices architecture and Kubernetes.Strong understanding of secure software development is important. Candidates should be comfortable considering privacy, threat modeling, scalability and reliability when making technical decisions. Experience with production troubleshooting, monitoring, root-cause analysis and operational improvements is highly relevant.The successful candidate should also be able to work across the software development lifecycle, from requirements and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment and production support. Strong unit testing practices and an ability to write clean, functional code are expected.Preferred SkillsExperience leading medium-to-large features or projects across multiple teams is valuable. Candidates who have influenced engineering roadmaps, architectural decisions or product direction will be well suited to the technical leadership aspects of the role.Additional strengths include experience with agile engineering strategies, customer-focused product development, observability and production reliability. Contributions to technical knowledge sharing, such as internal demonstrations, design sessions, technical blogs or publications, can further strengthen a profile.EducationThe stated qualification is a Bachelor's degree with 8 years of related experience, a Master's degree with 6 years of related experience, or a PhD with 3 years of related experience.ExperienceThe job title specifies 12 to 15 years of experience. The minimum qualification section also states experience combinations based on educational level.
