Role & responsibilities Automation Engineer (GitHub Actions & Python) Role Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Automation Engineer with strong expertise in GitHub Actions, GitHub Workflows, and Python scripting to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale automation solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for automating, CI/CD pipelines, repository governance, and operational processes to improve engineering productivity, consistency, and quality. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain reusable GitHub Actions workflows for CI/CD, testing, deployment, security, and compliance automation. - Build and maintain automation frameworks and tools using Python. - Automate repository provisioning, configuration management, branch policies, and governance controls. - Implement workflow automation for build, release, deployment, and operational activities. - Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and DevSecOps standards in automation solutions. - Collaborate with Development, DevOps, Platform Engineering, and Security teams to streamline engineering processes. - Create technical documentation, user guides, and operational runbooks for automation solutions. - Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying manual activities that can be automated. Required Skills GitHub Platform - Strong hands-on experience with GitHub repositories. - Expertise in GitHub Actions, reusable workflows, composite actions, and workflow optimization. - Experience with GitHub repository administration, branch protection rules, approvals, and governance. - Knowledge of GitHub APIs Programming & Automation - Strong proficiency in Python. - Experience developing automation scripts, CLI tools, and reusable modules. - Knowledge of Python libraries for API integrations, automation, and data processing. - Experience with error handling, logging, testing, and code quality practices. CI/CD & DevOps - Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions. - Understanding of DevOps and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). - Experience with container technologies such as Docker. - Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred). - Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP. Source Control & Collaboration - Advanced understanding of Git workflows, branching strategies, and pull request processes. - Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. - Robust troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skill .
