The company builds India's paperless digital infrastructure covering digital identity verification, legal e-signing, document automation, eNACH payment automation, and e-KYC. It serves 1,500+ enterprises and 100 million individual users. The company runs lean at ~90 people, with ~40 engineers, and operates at the intersection of financial inclusion and regulatory-grade reliability. Its culture rewards ownership, first-principles thinking, and craftsmanship over process. Position Overview This is a founding seat on the company's Platform Pod a greenfield infrastructure team with a P0 mandate. As the Data Infrastructure SME, you will own the entire database estate: performance, replication, backup/DR, capacity, and cost across high-throughput transactional systems underpinning payments, identity, e-sign, and compliance products. You will also define the data-layer standards and self-serve tooling that product teams across a ~40-engineer organisation depend on. Build the database platform behind high-scale, mission-critical systems. Were looking for a Data Infrastructure SME who can own databases beyond day-to-day operations from performance and reliability to migrations, automation and platformization. Youll work with MySQL, PostgreSQL, TiDB-class distributed systems and help build the foundation for a future self-serve database platform / DBaaS. What Youll Own Own production database infrastructure across performance, replication, backup/DR, upgrades, capacity and cost.Drive schema, query and migration best practices across engineering teams.Work deeply with MySQL/PostgreSQL internals and distributed SQL/NoSQL systems at scale.Design and automate database provisioning, lifecycle management, recovery and upgrades.Lead large-scale production migrations with minimal downtime and zero data loss.Build database capabilities for customer-controlled/on-prem environments, where hands-on access may be limited.Partner with engineering teams to build self-service tooling, guardrails and future DBaaS capabilities.What Were Looking For 5+ years of deep hands-on production database ownership.Internals-level expertise in PostgreSQL or MySQL.Experience with distributed SQL/NoSQL databases at scale.Proven experience with database automation, self-service tooling or DBaaS/platform engineering.Track record of successfully executing critical production database migrations.Strong understanding of HA, replication, DR, performance tuning and capacity planning.Bonus Points Experience with TiDB / CockroachDB / YugabyteDB, Kubernetes/Terraform, or banking, payments, fintech and other transaction-critical systems.
