Job Summary The Economics team is responsible for generating and/or rolling over the country-level and bank group-level economic stress scenarios which acts as an important input into the broader stress testing engines. The candidate must have an understanding of basic economic concepts such as GDP growth, interest rates, inflation and unemployment rate, and should be comfortable using Excel to organise, review and respond to simple data requests. Any prior experience in governance, documentation, audit support, model risk, stress testing or related banking processes would be helpful. The ideal experience required is 1-2 years in economic model governance and audit related fields The role holder will be a part of the Economics team (Scenario Design) within the Stress Testing hub in Bangalore. The Economics team is involved in designing, maintaining and enriching stress scenarios for the Bank group, country-level stress tests, regulatory stress exercises and internal management scenarios. The team also maintains and develops the baseline scenario every quarter. Stress testing comprises the stress tests required by the Group, regions, country and risk management teams, and other senior stakeholders as required to inform risk appetite and the stress tests required by the Banks regulators. The stress testing hub is also the centre of excellence for all strategic changes and operational controls, compliance attestation and policy setting for stress testing in the enterprise. The role also requires maintaining and the regular update of process documentation, model documentation, control descriptions and standard operating procedures to ensure they accurately reflect the current IFRS9 Baseline process. Compliance with applicable operational risk, model governance and control framework requirements has to be ensured, including maintenance of supporting evidence. This includes working with workstream leads, model owners, support functions and stakeholders to coordinate responses, clarify requirements and ensure consistent communication Key Responsibilities Other responsibilities would include assisting with data requests by sourcing, organising and validating information from approved repositories and applying a basic understanding of economic concepts to interpret macroeconomic variables used in the IFRS9 Baseline process to support clear documentation of related assumptions and inputs. The role holder is responsible for the following in undertaking the role: Deliver on the governance requirements for the IFRS9 Baseline process. Ensure compliance to Stress Testing procedures, methodologies, and controls. Manage any governance related aspects of the execution of scenario building Deliver adequate documentation on baseline methodology subject to management, model validation, audit & regulatory scrutiny. Deliver on the operational risk framework for the IFRS9 process Work towards building governance efficiency around the baseline process The candidate is expected to help with maintaining governance routines in the IFRS9 Baseline process and assist with internal and external audit requirements by collating evidence, responding to simple queries, maintaining audit trails and supporting timely closure of audit-related actions Business Stress Testing Economics, as part of Stress Testing Department (GCFO), is an independent group function responsible for projecting macroeconomic and climate risk scenarios across various macroeconomic and climate variables for downstream consumption by stress testing teams. The function plays a critical role in strategic business, regulatory and infrastructure initiatives which forms the Banks future. Internal Stress Tests: Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP), Management Stress Tests (MST) etc. Regulatory Stress Tests: HKMA SDST, MAS Stress Test, BOE Stress Test, BOT Stress Test, Reverse Stress Tests etc. Climate Risk Stress Tests: A new area of analysis focussing on the impact of climate change on Banking industry Driving Digitisation': Responsible for designing, prototyping, and implementing strategic change initiatives to increase business efficiency of stress testing processes.
