Job Description (JD ): Mechanical Design & Procurement Engineer Company: Fix Yantra Engineering (FYE) Location: Bhosari MIDC, Pune Department: Design & Project Engineering Reports To: General Manager / Director Position SummaryThe Mechanical Design & Procurement Engineer is responsible for preparing manufacturing drawings, BOMs, material planning, procurement, vendor coordination, costing support, and ensuring timely availability of materials for production. The role requires close coordination with Production, Quality, Project Management, and Suppliers to ensure projects are completed on time with the required quality. Key Responsibilities1. Design & EngineeringStudy customer drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications. Prepare manufacturing drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks/CATIA/AutoCAD). Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM). Prepare DXF files for profile cutting and laser cutting. Assign FYE internal Lot Numbers and maintain document traceability. Prepare assembly drawings and exploded views. Revise drawings based on customer comments or internal improvements. Ensure all drawings follow customer standards and FYE SOPs. 2. Material Planning & ProcurementPrepare material requirement based on approved BOM. Float RFQs to approved vendors. Compare quotations based on: Cost Delivery Material quality Vendor reliability Prepare Purchase Requisitions (PR). Generate Purchase Orders (PO). Follow up with suppliers for timely deliveries. Ensure procurement meets project timelines. 3. Vendor DevelopmentIdentify and develop new suppliers. Evaluate supplier performance. Maintain Approved Vendor List (AVL). Negotiate pricing and delivery schedules. Build long-term supplier relationships. 4. Costing & EstimationEstimate raw material requirements. Calculate machining requirements. Estimate outsourcing costs. Support quotation preparation. Suggest cost reduction opportunities. 5. Production CoordinationRelease drawings to production. Resolve manufacturing issues. Provide technical support during machining and assembly. Coordinate with CNC/VMC programmers. Support production planning. 6. Quality SupportReview inspection reports. Support root cause analysis. Ensure purchased materials meet specifications. Coordinate with QC for incoming inspection. 7. DocumentationMaintain the following records: BOM Purchase Orders Supplier Quotations Vendor Performance Records Material Follow-up Reports Drawing Revision History Procurement Tracker Cost Comparison Sheets Material Receipt Records Daily ResponsibilitiesReview project priorities. Check pending procurement status. Coordinate with suppliers. Prepare and release drawings. Update procurement tracker. Support production. Attend project review meetings.
