Zscaler sells zero trust cloud security, and the sales engineer is the technical half of that conversation: the person who has to make the architecture credible to an enterprise customer's own engineers. This role covers Majors accounts from Mumbai. The posting describes providing technical thought leadership to enterprise customers on transforming their digital experience, taking total ownership of the technical sale and its processes, qualifying technical opportunities while building trusted advisor relationships with key stakeholders, and delivering technical presentations and whiteboard sessions that lead to successful deployments. The hands-on requirement is real and specific, asking for experience installing, configuring and managing routers, switches and network security technologies, which is what separates this from a purely commercial role. At 15 or more years it is aimed squarely at experienced practitioners. Who it is for: What the posting asks for as minimum qualifications: 15 or more years of experience as a Sales Engineer or systems integrator. Hands-on experience installing, configuring and managing routers, switches and network security technologies. A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. A foundational understanding of AI and ML technologies and experience using, securing or positioning AI driven solutions within your domain. Preferred: experience demonstrating or architecting enterprise cloud security platforms using AI powered threat prevention, automated anomaly detection or predictive data defence. Proficiency with group policy, Active Directory and LDAP, and single sign on and SAML protocols. A deep understanding of HTTP and web security technologies including proxies and firewalls, and direct experience managing macOS, UNIX and Linux, and Windows systems. The actual day to day: providing technical thought leadership and advice to enterprise customers on transforming their digital experience. Taking total ownership of the technical sale and the associated processes. Identifying and qualifying technical opportunities while developing and maintaining trusted advisor relationships with key customer stakeholders. Delivering sales pitches, technical presentations and whiteboard sessions to support successful deployments. Location and office reality: Mumbai, India. The posting carries a hybrid tag in its metadata but does not state how many days a week that means, so ask. Honest fit guidance: this is a sales engineering role and we list it as customer facing rather than pretending otherwise. It is included because the requirement list demands genuine hands-on network and security depth rather than only commercial skill, which is the line this list has drawn consistently: technical customer facing roles are in scope, purely sales framed ones are not. If you are a network or security engineer who enjoys the customer conversation, 15 years of practice is what this asks for. Zscaler has 50 roles already live on our board across engineering and customer facing teams. .

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
