A Material Technician performs a variety of laboratory and field tests on construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. They assist in the development and execution of testing plans and quality control procedures, and maintain accurate records of test results. The role of a Material Technician is essential in the construction industry as their work helps ensure the safety and longevity of structures, and that materials used in construction meet the necessary standards for strength, durability, and quality. Reviews all invoices To conduct destructive and non- destructive testing of materials, parts and assemblies To coach and train apprentice placements and trainees To satisfy test requirements of internal customers through the application of laboratory techniques To generate and interpret complex test reports To contribute to the development of a common approach to Laboratory working practices Liaising with both internal and external customers Assisting in the flow of inventory/purchasing processes Will be the internal resource for other departments regarding inventory concerns Ability and passion to learn new technologies in a fast paced environment Data and Organization Skills Technical and Lab Skills Soft and Workplace Skills Problem-Solving Attention to Detail
