The QA / Validation Engineer is a member of the VCF9 Migration Factory Delivery Pod's Enablement & Control tier, owning pre- and post-migration checks, rollback rehearsal, and backup validation (e.g., Cohesity). Ensures workloads are proven correct in the target VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environment before a wave is declared complete, acting as the quality gate that keeps execution honest and repeatable. Key Responsibilities - Owns pre-migration validation checks, confirming source workload readiness against the Migration Architect's approved design before a wave is scheduled to proceed. - Owns post-migration validation checks, confirming migrated workloads are proven correct and functioning as expected in the target VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environment before a wave is declared complete. - Plans and executes rollback rehearsals for each wave, validating that rollback procedures defined by the Migration Architect can be executed successfully within the wave's maintenance window. - Owns backup validation activities (e.g., Cohesity) for migrated workloads, confirming backup jobs, retention policies, and recovery points are correctly re-established in the target setting. - Partners with the Senior Migration Engineer and Migration Engineer (Mid) to define pre/post-check criteria and acceptance thresholds for each migration wave. - Documents validation results, defects, and rollback rehearsal outcomes, and escalates any workload that fails to meet wave completion criteria to the Senior Technical Consultant. - Coordinates with the Network/NSX Engineer to validate network connectivity, routing, and segmentation for migrated workloads post-cutover. - Works with the Documentation/Runbook Specialist to ensure validation checklists and rollback rehearsal procedures are captured in reusable runbooks. - Maintains a wave-level quality dashboard/tracker, reporting validation status to the Migration Coordinator/PMO and Technical Project Manager. - Continuously improves validation test scripts and automates repetitive checks in partnership with the Automation Engineer to reduce manual validation effort per wave. - Proposes and implements enhancements to validation processes that improve the accuracy, speed, and repeatability of wave sign-off - Skills - Migration Quality Assurance & Validation - Rollback Rehearsal - Backup & Recovery Validation (Cohesity) - AI/Machine Learning - Cloud Computing - Cybersecurity - DevOps Coding Skills - Network/Systems Skills - Technical Writing Skills - Process Improvement .
