Job OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer with specialized skills in Service Provider core networking, large-scale backbone architecture, and modern SDN/automation frameworks. This role emphasizes hands-on expertise in routing, MPLS, traffic engineering, and maintaining high availability within mission-critical carrier-grade environments. The candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, operations, vendors, and leadership teams to design, operate, and enhance high-performing networks. Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and optimize VMware NSX elements such as logical switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.Troubleshoot complex networking virtualization challenges including performance, connectivity, and security issues.Conduct root cause analyses and implement solutions to avert repeat incidents.Oversee monitoring and management of NSX environments to maintain peak performance and uptime.Enforce policies for network segmentation, micro-segmentation, and traffic governance.Design robust security frameworks within NSX, including firewall rules, VPNs, and IDS/IPS system configurations.Perform routine security assessments and compliance audits adhering to organizational and regulatory standards.Lead architecture and design initiatives for advanced network virtualization using VMware NSX.Maintain comprehensive network documentation including diagrams and configuration details.Manage deployment of NSX setups ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.Technical TasksInstall and manage VMware NSX clusters.Design and integrate NSX solutions with existing VMware infrastructure.Conduct regular system audits and generate performance analytics.Implement disaster recovery and backup protocols.Provide expert level troubleshooting support and collaborate with vendor support channels when required.Maintain security postures of virtualized networks through best practices and vulnerability management.Produce detailed documentation for configurations and processes.Core Technical ExpertiseAdvanced knowledge of BGP, OSPF, IS-IS routing protocols and route redistribution.Extensive understanding of MPLS L2/L3 VPNs, Traffic Engineering and Segment Routing.Experience implementing QoS policies for large-scale service provider networks.Dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 architecture and transition strategies.Network resiliency techniques including Fast Reroute, Graceful Restart, and Non-Stop Routing.Hands-on experience with Nokia 7750 SR, Cisco ASR 9000, Cisco NCS Series, and high-capacity core/aggregation switches.Familiarity with automation and SDN tools such as Netconf/YANG, Ansible, Python scripting, Terraform, and controller-based architectures.Knowledge of control-plane protection, DDoS mitigation, and secure BGP practices in service provider networks.Proven experience designing Tier-1/Tier-2 ISP backbone networks and managing carrier-grade NAT, broadband services, peering, and capacity planning.Experience with network migration, in-service software upgrades, and hardware refreshes.Proficient with Nokia SR OS CLI, Cisco IOS-XR, and Cisco IOS-XE platforms.Soft Skills and LeadershipStrong problem-solving skills during high-pressure incidents.Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences.Cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and vendor teams.Exceptional documentation and strict adherence to change management guidelines.Ownership mentality and accountability for network stability and production environments.Additional InformationLocation: Chennai, India Work Mode: Hybrid Shift Timings: 24/7 rotational shift Immediate joiners are preferred.
