The PositionThe Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and evolving reusable SAP BTP /Cloud platform capabilities that enable secure, scalable, and efficient application development across the enterprise. The role requires transforming architectural decisions into production-ready capabilities, automation, engineering frameworks, and reusable services. Working closely with Platform Architecture and Platform Operations. The role ensures platform capabilities are engineered with reliability, scalability, security, and developer experience at the forefront. The Platform Engineering Lead drives innovation through technical exploration, proof-of-concepts, engineering standards, automation, and platform modernization while enabling application teams to consume SAP BTP through standardized patterns. This role provides technical leadership across platform engineering initiatives and is accountable for engineering quality, execution, and continuous improvement of the platform. Job Responsibilities Scope: Platform Engineering, Administration & Capability Development Lead the administration, development, and continuous evolution of reusable cloud platform capabilities, engineering frameworks, and shared services. Manage platform environments, services, identity and access integration, connectivity, and shared platform capabilities. Own the end-to-end engineering lifecycle from implementation, delivering scalable, secure, and resilient platform capabilities aligned with platform architecture, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements. Engineering Excellence, Automation & Platform Evolution Drive engineering excellence by establishing modern engineering practices, including DevSecOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automation, and cloud-native engineering patterns. Lead technology evaluations, Proofs of Concept (PoCs), and adoption of emerging cloud services while continuously improving platform reliability, operational efficiency, developer experience, and self-service capabilities. Technical Leadership & Engineering Delivery Provide technical leadership and show accountability across complex platform initiatives by planning engineering capacity, managing technical dependencies and risks, and mentoring engineering teams. Collaborate closely with Architecture, Operations, Security, Vendors, and business stakeholders to translate platform strategy into engineering execution, delivering reusable platform capabilities that simplify adoption and enable enterprise-scale digital solutions. Qualifications Education / Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline. Demonstrated experience making strategic technical decisions and leading large to enterprise-level project teams. Proven track record of designing, and implementing integrated, reliable enterprise platform capabilities across technology space. Experience in estimating complex engineering resources, dependencies, and timelines to deliver successful enterprise projects. Experience working with SAP BTP or comparable enterprise cloud platforms. Technical / Business Skills Strong experience with: Advanced technical expertise in multiple areas (e.g., Platform, Compute and Storage, Network Management, ERP Technology Management, High Performance Computing, Datacenter Management, or Database Management). SAP BTP administration/Cloud-native engineering Infrastructure as Code, Automation frameworks HANA Cloud administration Observability concepts CICD, DevSecOps Experience with: Terraform Kubernetes / Kyma (preferred) Cloud Application programming Proven strong and wide experience applying best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service environment utilizing Scrum and Agile methodologies. Leadership skills: Ability to lead engineering teams, vendor/SI facilitation. Strong systems thinking with ability to translate architecture into engineering execution. Excellent stakeholder management. Comfortable working with ambiguity and evolving technology/platform strategy. Additional Qualifications: Outstanding problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to integrate advanced technological concepts into viable final products.
