About The Role We are looking for a talented and motivated Senior Front End Software Engineer to design and deliver large-scale, distributed web applications using cutting-edge technologies. About The Team Be a part of Qualys TotalCloud, a team of software engineers innovating on cloud security within the next generation of the Qualys Technology Platform. You'll work alongside highly talented engineers and architects on a platform that processes over 100 million transactions and terabytes of data per day. We work in a fast-paced environment - prototyping, designing, developing, and supporting a highly scalable SaaS-based cloud security platform - and we leverage open-source technologies to solve challenging problems aligned with enterprise security needs. This position is based at the Qualys Pune development center. What You'll Do Design and build the front-end architecture of highly dynamic, scalable, microservice-based web applications, and help shape the standards, patterns, and best practices the team builds on.Design, develop, and deliver cross-browser dynamic interfaces with rich user interaction, primarily using ReactJS and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.Contribute across the stack - building and integrating REST APIs and backend services that power the UI. Our platform is built on Java backend services and libraries, Kafka, Cassandra, Oracle, Elastic Search, and Redis, and you'll work closely with these systems.Elevate the engineers around you through thoughtful code reviews, design discussions, and pairing, raising the quality bar by example.Drive UI performance, scalability, and security - profiling, optimizing, and hardening the front end for a demanding enterprise workload.Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional engineering teams to translate customer requirements into robust, well-designed features.Research and evaluate new technologies, and champion their adoption where they add value.Deliver new features and improvements in a fast-paced environment as part of a growing engineering team. Required Qualifications 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a strong front-end focus.Proven experience building large-scale, distributed, and highly scalable web applications.Demonstrated ability to make and drive front-end architecture decisions and see them through to production.A track record of technical leadership as an individual contributor - influencing design decisions, mentoring peers, and setting a high engineering bar without formal authority. Front-End Expertise (primary Focus) Substantial experience building large, complex, and performant web applications with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS across multiple browsers.JavaScript expert - firm grasp of both functional and object-oriented JavaScript, proficient in native JavaScript and one or more frameworks such as ReactJS (preferred), Angular, or Ext JS. TypeScript experience is a strong plus.Solid command of CSS fundamentals and modern layout/styling techniques.Deep understanding of front-end architecture patterns, state management, and componentization.Deep knowledge of modern front-end build systems such as Vite and Webpack - configuring and optimizing bundling, code splitting, tree shaking, module resolution, and build performance, and understanding the trade-offs between tooling choices.Strong grasp of the network layer - HTTP/HTTPS, cookies, local storage - and front-end security best practices, including XSS, CSRF, and related mitigations.Deep familiarity with Chrome DevTools, including using the performance timeline for profiling. Proficient with debugging and testing tools to troubleshoot and optimize the UI.Strong track record of UI optimization and performance tuning. Backend Proficiency (supporting focus) Working proficiency in at least one modern backend language - Java, Go, Python, Node.js, C#, or similar. You don't need to be a backend expert, but you should confidently design, build, and debug server-side code.Experience designing and consuming REST APIs (GraphQL a plus).Comfort working with SQL and relational databases; exposure to NoSQL or distributed data stores is a plus.Understanding of microservice architectures and how front-end applications integrate with distributed .

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
