Senior Embedded System Engineer Company: Rymo Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Location: Juinagar, Navi Mumbai, India Industry: Robotic Medical Equipment About Rymo: Rymo Technology is building robotic solutions that help stroke survivors and individuals with movement impairments regain physical independence. We combine healthcare, robotics and gamification to deliver real-world clinical impact. As we scale globally, were building solid teams and systems to support rapid growth across functions. Job Summary: As Senior Firmware / Embedded Systems Engineer, you will own the embedded systems vertical end-to-end architecture, firmware quality, hardware bring-up, and the roadmap for how our devices are built and certified. You will set technical direction, mentor the Junior Firmware Engineer already on the team, and act as the primary technical point of contact for embedded systems across product, quality/regulatory, and manufacturing. This is an ownership role, not a task-execution role: you will be expected to make and defend architectural decisions, not just implement someone else's. Key Responsibilities: Technical Ownership & Architecture - Own the firmware and embedded architecture across Rymo's device portfolio, including microcontroller platforms (nRF52, STM32, and other ARM-based systems). - Define and enforce coding standards, version control practices, and a repeatable firmware release process, replacing informal or ad hoc practices from earlier stages of the company. - Evaluate and re-architect legacy or outsourced firmware/electronics where reliability or scalability is at risk. - Design for BLE communication, sensor integration, motor control, and real-time performance across robotic and rehabilitation devices. Reliability, Quality & Compliance - Build and own test frameworks (unit, integration, hardware-in-the-loop) to catch defects before field deployment. - Ensure firmware and hardware design decisions align with ISO 13485, IEC 60601-1, IEC 62304, and relevant CDSCO/BIS/CE certification requirements. - Lead root-cause investigations for field issues and translate them into design or process changes. - Partner with the regulatory/quality team on design history files, risk documentation (ISO 14971), and traceability for audits. Cross-Functional & Product - Work directly with mechanical, electronics, software, and clinical/product teams to translate product requirements into buildable, certifiable hardware/firmware. - Support production, field trials, and post-launch iteration, with an eye toward reducing launch time. - Contribute technical input to BD, grant, and regulatory submissions where embedded systems detail is required. Required Skills & Experience - 69+ years of hands-on embedded systems / firmware engineering experience, with at least 2 years owning architecture or leading a small team. - Deep expertise in Embedded C/C++, ARM Cortex-M architectures (nRF52, STM32 or equivalent), and RTOS or bare-metal real-time systems. - Proven experience with BLE communication stacks, peripheral drivers, and hardware debugging (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters). - PCB literacy: able to design, review, and sign off on PCB layouts (Altium, KiCad, or Eagle) and catch issues before fabrication. - Regulated-hardware background (medical devices, automotive functional safety, or industrial safety) with exposure to IEC 60601, IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 26262, or comparable standards strongly preferred. - Track record of ownership: someone who has previously inherited an ambiguous or under-resourced system and turned it into something reliable and scalable. - Communication: able to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders (founders, clinical, regulatory) and to give/receive feedback directly and non-defensively. - Education: Bachelor's or Master's in Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunications, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field. Here's how to pick the right one and stand out in your application.

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
