Tax Director U.S. Tax Operations Location: SG Highway, Ahmedabad Working Hours: 8:30 PM 5:30 AM (US PST) Employment Type: Full time Experience Required: 8+ Years About Syriac CPA Tax & Accounting Services Inc. Syriac CPA Tax & Accounting Services Inc. is a California-based CPA firm providing tax preparation, accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, tax planning, advisory, tax resolution, and business consulting services to clients across the United States. As part of our growth strategy, we are establishing a dedicated U.S. Tax Operations Center in SG Highway, Ahmedabad and are seeking an experienced Tax Director to lead and manage our U.S. Tax Department. Position Summary The Tax Director will oversee the U.S. Tax Department, manage tax professionals, review and prepare complex tax returns, ensure quality control, mentor team members, and drive operational excellence. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both technical tax expertise and strong people management skills. Key ResponsibilitiesDepartment Leadership Lead and manage the U.S. Tax Department. Supervise tax preparers, reviewers, and coordinators. Monitor productivity, turnaround times, and quality standards. Conduct department meetings and performance reviews. Develop and improve SOPs and departmental processes. Train, mentor, and develop team members. Build and maintain a high-performing tax team. Tax Preparation Prepare and handle complex U.S. tax returns, including: Form 1040 Individual Returns Form 1120-S S Corporation Returns Form 1120 C Corporation Returns Form 1065 Partnership Returns Form 1041 Trust & Estate Returns Multi-State Tax Returns High-Net-Worth Individual Returns Tax Review & Quality Control Review tax returns prepared by team members. Ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation. Identify tax-saving opportunities and planning strategies. Ensure timely completion of engagements. Advanced Tax Matters Provide technical guidance and support on: Business Acquisitions and Sales Asset and Stock Transactions Capital Gain Planning Rental Real Estate Taxation Trust Taxation Partnership & Shareholder Basis Calculations IRS and State Tax Notices Tax Research Projects Entity Structuring and Restructuring International Tax Compliance Strong experience with: Form 5471 Form 5472 Form 8865 Form 8858 FBAR (FinCEN Form 114) FATCA Reporting (Form 8938) Form 1116 Foreign Tax Credit Form 2555 Foreign Earned Income Exclusion Forms 3520 & 3520-A Form 8621 (PFIC Reporting) Client Communication Participate in client meetings. Explain tax returns and tax positions. Support tax planning discussions. Respond to technical tax queries. Assist the Client Relations Team on complex matters. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with the Client Relations and Operations teams to ensure efficient service delivery while focusing on technical tax leadership and departmental management. QualificationsRequired Chartered Accountant (CA) 8+ years of U.S. Tax experience Experience working with U.S. CPA firms Strong experience in preparing and reviewing complex U.S. tax returns Leadership and team management experience Preferred CPA EA (Enrolled Agent) MST (Master of Science in Taxation) Prior experience leading a U.S. Tax Department Technical Expertise Strong knowledge of: U.S. Federal Taxation California Taxation Multi-State Taxation Individual Taxation S Corporations, Partnerships & C Corporations Trust & Estate Taxation International Taxation Tax Research IRS Resolution Matters Software Experience Preferred experience with: Lacerte ATX QuickBooks Online Microsoft Excel Adobe Acrobat What We Are Looking For Strong leadership and decision-making abilities Hands-on expertise in complex U.S. tax matters Ability to build and scale tax operations Commitment to quality, compliance, and client service Strong communication and mentoring skills High level of ownership, accountability, and professionalism Why Join Us This is an excellent opportunity to become a key leader within a growing U.S. CPA firm and play a significant role in building and shaping a high-performing U.S. Tax Operations team. .
