Senior Purchase Executive

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Team Leadership & Supervision Supervise, mentor, and guide junior purchase executives and coordinators in day-to-day procurement operations. Allocate work responsibilities within the team and track individual/team progress against deadlines. Review and verify purchase orders (POs), comparative statements, and reports prepared by team members before final submission. Conduct training sessions for the team regarding technical specifications, commercial negotiations, and standard company ERP systems. 2. Sourcing & Procurement Management Oversee the end-to-end procurement cycle for raw materials, engineering tools, consumables, capital equipment, and services. Evaluate Material Requisitions (MR) received from production, planning, and engineering departments to ensure clarity in technical terms. Float inquiries, obtain competitive quotations, and prepare detailed price comparison charts to analyze commercial terms. Optimize the total cost of ownership by negotiating favorable credit terms, delivery timelines, discounts, and performance SLAs. 3. Vendor Management & Development Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable new domestic and international suppliers to strengthen the supply chain network. Maintain healthy, long-term professional relationships with current vendors and handle critical escalations or disputes. Conduct annual or bi-annual vendor evaluation audits based on quality, delivery compliance, and responsiveness. 4. Inventory, Cost Control & Logistics Coordinate with the Stores and Inventory team to maintain optimal stock levels (Min/Max limits) and prevent over-stocking or stock-out situations. Analyze market and commodity trends to anticipate price fluctuations and implement strategic material planning. Liaise with logistics providers and customs brokers to ensure timely, cost-effective clearance and inward delivery of materials. 5. Compliance, ERP & Documentation Ensure all procurement documentation, tax compliance elements (GST, custom duties), and internal audit protocols are meticulously maintained. Maintain precise data management records within the company ERP system (PO generation, inward tracking, and payment verification). Prepare monthly management information reports (MIS) regarding cost savings, purchase volume analytics, and pending orders. REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Production Engineering OR Graduate with a specialized Diploma/MBA in Supply Chain/Materials Management). Experience: Minimum 5+ years of core industrial purchasing experience, preferably within engineering, capital machinery manufacturing, packaging, or flexo-related industries. At least 1-2 years of experience leading or supervising a small team is highly preferred. Technical Skills: Proficient in ERP systems (SAP, Tally ERP, or specialized procurement software) and highly skilled in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Formulas).
