Job Description Position: Portfolio Manager Location: Pune, India Reporting To: Vice President / Head Portfolio Management (or Business Unit Head) Position Summary The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for driving the strategic planning, evaluation, and optimization of Emcure's pharmaceutical product portfolio across the product lifecycle. The role will work closely with Research & Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Intellectual Property, and Business Development teams to maximize portfolio value, accelerate product commercialization, and support sustainable business growth. The incumbent will lead portfolio prioritization, evaluate new product opportunities, monitor development pipelines Key Responsibilities Portfolio Strategy & Planning Develop and execute portfolio strategies aligned with Emcure's business objectives and therapeutic area priorities.Build long-term product roadmaps covering new product introductions, lifecycle management, line extensions, and portfolio rationalization.Assess market trends, competitive intelligence, unmet medical needs, and customer insights to identify future growth opportunities.Recommend strategic portfolio investments to strengthen competitive positioning.Portfolio Evaluation & Prioritization Evaluate pipeline assets, in-licensing opportunities, and new product proposals using commercial potential, strategic fit, technical feasibility, regulatory complexity, and financial return.Establish objective prioritization frameworks based on risk, investment requirements, market attractiveness, and expected ROI.Support executive decision-making through portfolio reviews and scenario analysis.Recommend Go/No-Go decisions at key development milestones.Cross-Functional Leadership Collaborate with R&D, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, Intellectual Property, Commercial, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, and Quality teams to ensure alignment on portfolio priorities.Coordinate cross-functional governance meetings and portfolio review forums.Facilitate communication between development and commercial teams to enable successful product launches.Lifecycle Management Develop lifecycle strategies to maximize the commercial performance of existing brands.Identify opportunities for product enhancements, new indications, dosage forms, combination products, and geographic expansion.Drive portfolio optimization through timely product additions, rationalization, and discontinuation decisions.Market & Competitive Intelligence Monitor therapeutic area dynamics, competitor pipelines, patent expiries, pricing trends, reimbursement landscapes, and emerging technologies.Conduct market opportunity assessments for new product development and business expansion.Benchmark portfolio performance against industry and competitor offerings.Resource & Budget Optimization Support allocation of R&D investments, development resources, manufacturing capacity, and commercial budgets across the portfolio.Ensure efficient utilization of organizational resources to maximize portfolio value.Collaborate with Finance to evaluate investment scenarios and forecast portfolio returns.Risk Management & Portfolio Governance Track development milestones, regulatory submissions, clinical progress, manufacturing readiness, and commercialization timelines.Identify portfolio risks related to regulatory approvals, intellectual property, competition, clinical outcomes, and supply continuity.Recommend mitigation strategies and escalation plans where necessary.Maintain portfolio governance processes and performance dashboards.Product Launch & Commercial Support Partner with Commercial, Marketing, Sales, and Medical Affairs teams to ensure launch readiness for new products.Monitor launch performance and recommend post-launch optimization strategies.Support pricing, forecasting, demand planning, and commercialization initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.MBA or Postgraduate qualification in Marketing, Strategy, Healthcare Management, or Business Administration preferred.Experience 812 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry across Portfolio Management, Product Management, Business Development, Strategy, Commercial Excellence, or R&D.Experience managing pharmaceutical portfolios across multiple therapeutic areas.Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical product development lifecycle from concept through commercialization.Exposure to branded formulations, specialty products, or global portfolio management is preferred.Experience working with cross-functional leadership teams in a matrix organization. .
