We provide a complete checkout ecosystem - spanning self-checkout, Mobile POS, Click & Collect and traditional tills - allowing retailers to run their entire store checkout operation on MishiPay. Our technology reduces operating costs, increases basket size and visit frequency, lowers abandonment, and unlocks rich, real-time customer data, delivering both immediate commercial impact and deeper insight into the in-store customer journey. We now have major international retail customers in the UK, Europe, Middle East and the USA, and were expanding! About The Role We are looking for a skilled Android Front-End Developer to design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications. The role involves building intuitive and responsive user interfaces, integrating backend services, optimising application performance, and collaborating closely with Product, Design, QA, and Backend Engineering teams to deliver seamless mobile experiences. This is not a senior role, but we are looking for someone who has at least a year of Android and Kotlin experience, who is willing to learn and develop. Were looking for an individual to cover various shift patterns to support the US, Australian and EMEA customers, over 5 days/nights a week, including Sundays. The night-time shift will benefit from a shift allowance. About You You'll have up to two years experience as an Android Front-End Developer with strong expertise in Kotlin and modern Android development. Ideally, you'll have experience supporting production applications, troubleshooting issues, and working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver an exceptional user experience. Not only will you be technically proficient, but you'll also possess excellent English communication skills, as you'll be collaborating with our international customers and internal stakeholders to support MishiPay implementations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose, XML-based UI development, REST APIs, and modern Android architecture (MVVM/Clean Architecture). You'll be comfortable debugging complex issues, optimising application performance, and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a rapid-paced Agile environment. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin and Java. - Build modern user interfaces using Jetpack Compose while supporting and maintaining legacy XML-based screens where required. - Collaborate with Product, UX/UI Designers, Backend Developers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality mobile features. - Integrate RESTful APIs and third-party SDKs into Android applications. - Implement scalable application architecture following MVVM and Clean Architecture principles. - Develop reusable UI components and ensure consistency across the application. - Optimise application performance, responsiveness, and memory usage. - Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve application defects and production issues. - Implement local data storage using Room, DataStore, or SharedPreferences. - Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following Android development best practices. - Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and technical design discussions. - Develop and maintain unit tests and UI tests to ensure application reliability and quality. Required Experience - 1-3 years of experience in solid Android application development. - Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java. - Experience developing Android applications using both Jetpack Compose and XML-based UI. - Solid understanding of Android SDK, application lifecycle, Activities, Fragments, and Intents. - Strong knowledge of MVVM architecture and Clean Architecture principles. - Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose, including state management, Material Design, Navigation Compose, and reusable composables. - Experience working with XML layouts, ConstraintLayout, RecyclerView, ViewBinding, and the Navigation Component. - Strong understanding of Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, StateFlow, and SharedFlow. - Experience integrating REST APIs using Retrofit and OkHttp. - Experience with local data persistence using Room, DataStore, or SharedPreferences. - Hands-on experience with Dependency Injection frameworks such as Hilt or Dagger. - Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows. - Strong debugging, troubleshooting .
