Role Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated SWIFT Messaging & Platform Engineer with 510 years of experience in financial messaging systems, SWIFT infrastructure, and production support. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in SWIFT products, troubleshooting complex messaging issues, automation using Python, and supporting mission-critical banking applications. Experience with container platforms such as OpenShift or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) is desirable. Key Responsibilities: SWIFT & Financial Messaging Support, maintain, and troubleshoot SWIFT infrastructure including AWP, SAA, SAG, SNL, HSM, and related components.Analyze and resolve SWIFT message processing issues, delivery failures, NACKs, formatting errors, and routing problems.Support onboarding of applications and business systems to the SWIFT ecosystem.Perform platform upgrades, security patching, and annual SWIFT Standard Release (SR) implementations.Configure and maintain message flows, routing rules, security configurations, and connectivity components.Production Support & Operations Provide L2/L3 support for critical payment and messaging platforms.Participate in incident, problem, change, and release management activities.Support disaster recovery exercises, platform resiliency testing, and infrastructure upgrades.Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and post-incident reports.Work closely with business, operations, infrastructure, and vendor teams to resolve production issues. Automation & Engineering Develop automation scripts and operational tools using Python, Shell scripting, or similar technologies.Automate routine monitoring, health checks, file processing, report generation, and platform administration tasks.Improve operational efficiency through scripting, observability, and self-healing capabilities.Support CI/CD and DevOps initiatives for middleware and messaging platforms. Messaging & Integration Configure and support messaging middleware such as IBM MQ or equivalent technologies.Manage MQ queues, channels, connectivity, high-availability configurations, and message routing.Collaborate with application teams to troubleshoot integration and connectivity issues. Required Skills; 510 years of experience in financial messaging, SWIFT infrastructure, or payment systems.Strong knowledge of SWIFT products such as AMH, SAA, SAG, SNL, and HSM.Hands-on experience with Python scripting and automation.Experience with Linux/Unix administration and Shell scripting.Good understanding of IBM MQ, messaging middleware, and integration concepts.Experience with incident, change, and problem management processes.Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, or similar tools.Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Good to Have: Experience with OpenShift and/or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure.Understanding of payments and messaging standards (SWIFT MT, ISO 20022).Exposure to DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.Experience in banking or financial services environments. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.SWIFT certifications or relevant financial messaging certifications are a plus. What Success Looks Like: Efficiently manage and support mission-critical SWIFT platforms.Automate manual operational activities through scripting.Reduce incident resolution times and improve platform stability.Contribute to modernization efforts involving cloud, containers, and DevOps practices. Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
