As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you'll work at the intersection of software engineering, customer engagement, and product innovation. You'll partner closely with customers to solve complex technical challenges while collaborating with Product and Engineering teams to improve the platform based on real-world customer needs. You'll work on some of the most challenging AI deployments in the industry, partnering with Fortune 100 organizations to bring cutting-edge AI systems into production. Your Impact As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will: Partner with enterprise customers to understand technical requirements and business goals.Design scalable AI solution architectures and guide customers through production deployments.Build integrations, prototypes, and reusable tools that accelerate customer success.Lead technical workshops, architecture discussions, and troubleshoot complex production issues.Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to share customer feedback and influence future product enhancements.Create documentation, reusable best practices, and technical assets that benefit future deployments. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).812 years of software engineering experience building scalable, production-grade applications.Experience with APIs, distributed systems, cloud platforms, or backend development.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across multiple layers of the technology stack.Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with enterprise customers.Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.Interest in AI, Machine Learning, or developer platforms. Preferred Qualifications Experience deploying or supporting Generative AI, LLM, or Machine Learning applications in production.Experience with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, observability, or MLOps.Experience building customer-facing technical solutions or integrations.Experience creating reusable developer tools, frameworks, or open-source contributions.Consulting, Solutions Engineering, or Technical Customer Success experience in enterprise environments. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
