Cost Accountan

Role Description The Cost Accountant will perform day-to-day cost analysis, tracking, and reporting to support informed financial decision-making in a remote, part-time capacity. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing cost reports, analyzing variances between actual and budgeted costs, and maintaining cost allocation methodologies. The role involves posting and reviewing journal entries, reconciling accounts related to inventory and production, and supporting month-end and quarter-end close processes. The Cost Accountant will collaborate with finance and operations teams to provide insights on cost drivers, recommend efficiency improvements, and ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. Qualifications Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and practical experience applying Cost Accounting methods.Ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret Financial Statements for management and internal reporting.Demonstrated Analytical Skills for evaluating cost variances, trends, and operational performance.Proficiency in Journal Entries (Accounting), including accruals, adjustments, and reconciliations.Solid foundation in Finance, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets (e.g., Excel) and comfort working in remote collaboration tools.Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage part-time hours effectively across multiple tasks.Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CMA, CPA) is an advantage.Experience in manufacturing, healthcare, or service industries and familiarity with standard costing or activity-based costing is beneficial. .
