Technical Architect / Engineering Manager (Hands-On) Experience Level: 10 15 Years Job Type: Full-Time Location: Kolkata About the Role We are looking for a visionary, execution-focused Hands-On Technical Architect / Engineering Manager with 10 to 15 years of deep software engineering experience to lead our cross-functional engineering initiatives. You will act as the primary technical authority and hands-on leadanalyzing existing legacy/complex systems, designing modern scalable architectures, writing high-impact code, and guiding a team of junior to mid-level engineers from concept to production delivery. You will bridge the gap between high-level business strategy and deep, hands-on execution across a broad technology spectrum including Cloud, Microservices, DevOps, Networking, and emerging AI/GenAI paradigms. Key Responsibilities 1. Hands-On Coding, Design & Architecture - Active Coding & Prototyping: Maintain an active role in writing production code, building Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs), authoring core system components, and unblocking the team on complex technical issues. - System Architecture & Design: Architect robust, secure, and fault-tolerant distributed systems spanning frontend applications, backend microservices, cloud infrastructures, and data pipelines. - System Analysis & Modernization: Audit, analyze, and reverse-engineer existing architectures/legacy codebases to eliminate technical debt, improve reliability, optimize performance, and reduce cloud costs. - AI & Innovation Integration: Hands-on implementation of production-grade AI/ML and Generative AI patterns (e.g., LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, AI Agents, Vector DBs) into enterprise applications. - Networking & Security: Design and implement secure cloud networking topology (VPCs, API Gateways, Load Balancers, IAM, Zero-Trust network security). 2. Technical Leadership & Project Execution - Technical Roadmap & Scoping: Work with product management to translate high-level business goals into actionable engineering roadmaps, technical specs, and sprint breakdown plans. - Quality & Standards: Conduct rigorous code reviews, establish engineering best practices, enforce strict unit/integration testing, and maintain code quality across the team. - DevOps & Operational Excellence: Set up and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), containerization, distributed tracing, and production observability. 3. Team Management & Mentorship - Lead by Example: Independently manage and guide junior and mid-level software engineers through structured feedback, pair programming, and architectural mentorship. - Engineering Culture: Foster a hands-on culture of technical rigor, fast-paced execution, continuous integration, and technical growth. Required Qualifications & Experience Overall Experience - 10 to 15 years of total software engineering experience, with a proven track record of remaining actively hands-on with coding and system design throughout your career. - At least 35 years in a Technical Architect, Tech Lead, or Engineering Lead capacity directly delivering enterprise-scale platforms. Technical Stack Expertise Domain Required Skills & Technologies Hands-On Backend & APIs Expert-level coding skills in one or more core languages: Java, Python, or Node.js ; deep expertise in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, Microservices, and Event-Driven Architectures (Kafka/RabbitMQ). Frontend Hands-on experience or solid architectural understanding of contemporary Web frameworks ( React, Angular, Next.js, or Vue.js ), state management, performance optimization, and SSR/CSR paradigms. Cloud Computing Hands-on architectural and configuration mastery in AWS, Azure, or GCP (Serverless, Compute, Managed Databases, Object Storage, API Gateways). DevOps & IaC Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes (EKS/GKE/AKS), Terraform / CloudFormation, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD , and observability platforms. Networking & Infra Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, VPC peering, Load Balancing, CDN integration, and Cloud Security standards. AI / ML & GenAI Practical implementation experience with LLM APIs, RAG architectures, Vector Databases (Pinecone/Milvus/pgvector), LangChain/LlamaIndex , or cloud AI services (AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, Vertex AI). Analytical & Leadership Skills - Problem Solving: Exceptional ability to decompose highly complex, ambiguous business problems into clean technical architecture and working code. - System Analysis: Demonstrated ability to dive deep into unfamiliar codebases, run performance profiling, identify bottlenecks, and refactor code safely. - Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to explain complex designs to stakeholders and coach team members through architecture reviews. Preferred / Bonus Skills - Relevant Cloud Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or GCP Professional Cloud .
