About the Role Seeking a senior IBM Sterling Commerce OMS experienced in IBM Managed CloudOffering (MCS) with deep skills in product optimization, customizations, andhigh-volume performance engineering. The role includes defining and executingcloud-specific performance strategies, ensuring Sterling OMS runs at enterprise scale. Key Responsibilities 1. Cloud-Focused OMS Architecture Design and implement IBM Sterling OMS solutions optimized for the IBM Managed Cloud Service (MCS) environment.Develop upgrade-safe, scalable, and MCS-compliant customizations following IBM best practices.Ensure solution architecture aligns with cloud deployment standards, operational constraints, and security guidelines.2. Sterling OMS Customization & Product Optimization Customize Sterling APIs, services, user exits, agents, pipelines, and workflows to meet business requirements.Optimize order management processes, including order capture, promising, inventory, fulfillment, and payment workflows.Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable code enhancements to improve product performance and stability.3. Performance Engineering & Optimization Optimize Sterling OMS performance by tuning JVM, application services, caches, and database interactions in cloud-hosted environments.Improve the performance of REST, SOAP, MQ, Kafka, and other integration interfaces to support high transaction volumes.Ensure system performance meets defined SLAs for response time, throughput, scalability, and reliability.4. Performance Testing & Strategy Identify and prioritize critical business processes such as Order Creation, ATP/Promising, Inventory Updates, Ship-from-Store (SFS), Buy Online Pick-up In Store (BOPIS), and Payment Processing.Design and execute performance tests to evaluate application latency, throughput, resource utilization, and scalability.Validate the performance of customizations under peak workload conditions.5. Monitoring, Analysis & Troubleshooting Utilize IBM MCS monitoring tools, APM dashboards, application logs, JVM metrics, and performance reports to identify bottlenecks.Monitor agent scheduling, queue processing, database queries, and system resource utilization.Analyze CPU usage, heap memory, garbage collection, database locks, slow SQL queries, and integration latency to drive continuous performance improvements.6. Environment & Integration Management Collaborate with IBM Managed Cloud teams to provision and maintain performance testing environments.Coordinate end-to-end performance testing across integrated enterprise systems, including ERP, WMS, TMS, payment gateways, and Kafka-based integrations.Ensure seamless interoperability and optimal performance across all connected systems.7. Continuous Improvement Recommend application refactoring, configuration tuning, and architectural enhancements to improve scalability, maintainability, and operational efficiency.Contribute to performance optimization initiatives and ensure adherence to cloud and product engineering best practices.Support production stability through proactive monitoring, performance tuning, and issue resolution. Required Skills 10 years in IBM Sterling OMS with strong customization + optimization experience.23 years delivering solutions on IBM OMS Managed Cloud preferred.Advanced Java/J2EE, XML, SQL, performance profiling.Deep knowledge of Sterling pipelines, APIs, agents, SDF, and orchestration.Hands-on with load testing & performance monitoring tools. .
