ECE Centre Cook

Mt Wellies Childcare, located in the heart of Mt Wellington, is looking for a Cook to join our awesome team! We’re after someone who understands that food in a large early childhood centre is about so much more than just filling hungry tummies — it’s about nutrition, learning, fun and creating positive relationships with food. This role is M - F, 27.5 hours per week. We’re looking for someone who: Loves children and enjoys being part of an ECE environment. Understands children’s nutritional needs and how to create healthy, balanced and appealing menus. Is confident with planning weekly menus that provide variety, nutrition and plenty of yummy options for our tamariki. Is organised and responsible for maintaining a weekly budget for grocery shopping and food ordering, ensuring we have everything we need. Is confident catering for allergies, dietary requirements and individual needs. Is creative with food and knows how to sneak in those extra vegetables when needed! Enjoys involving children in cooking and food-based learning experiences. Has exceptionally high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety. Understands and follows all relevant food safety requirements, regulations, policies and procedures. Is organised and comfortable completing kitchen paperwork, food safety records and documentation. Is reliable, efficient and able to manage their time well. Is happy to help out on the floor if needed and be part of our wider Mt Wellies team. Most importantly, we want someone who enjoys what they do and understands that little people need delicious, nutritious food prepared with care.
