Building Code Consultant

About the role We're looking for a Building Code Consultant to join our Melbourne team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional seeking to further develop their technical expertise in building regulations and compliance within a supportive and collaborative environment. Working alongside experienced Building Surveyors and Building Code Consultants, you'll assist with building code assessments and compliance advice across a diverse range of projects. You'll gain exposure to projects from concept design through to completion while building your technical capability through mentoring, training and hands-on project experience. Key responsibilities Assist with Building Code of Australia (BCA) assessments and compliance reviews across a variety of project types Support the preparation of building code reports and compliance advice for clients and project teams Participate in meetings with architects, developers, consultants and key stakeholders Review architectural documentation against NCC requirements and referenced Australian Standards Assist with site inspections and audits of new and existing buildings Contribute to the development of compliance strategies and performance-based solutions Support project delivery, documentation management and client communications Build your technical knowledge through ongoing training, mentoring and project involvement About you Experience working within a building surveying, certification or building code consulting environment A Degree or Advanced Diploma in Building Surveying (completed or currently undertaking) Knowledge of the Building Act 1993, Building Regulations 2018, NCC (BCA) and referenced Australian Standards Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities Experience using Bluebeam, Aconex and Microsoft Office Suite A collaborative approach and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes Benefits Structured training and mentoring from experienced Building Surveyors and Building Code Consultants Clear career progression pathways within a national business Exposure to a wide range of projects across residential, commercial, education, government and infrastructure sectors Paid CPD and professional development opportunities Further study support (financial contribution plus paid study leave) Additional 3 days' paid leave between Christmas and New Year Competitive salary package based on qualifications and experience A supportive team culture focused on collaboration and professional growth About us Philip Chun is one of Australia's largest multi-disciplinary building compliance consultancies (est. 1990), advising across building code, accessibility and essential safety.
