Job Summary UTS is a dynamic and innovative university recognised for its global impact and located in the heart of Sydney's innovation precinct. Within UTS, the Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF) is a transdisciplinary research institute partnering with governments, industry and communities to deliver applied research that drives real world change towards sustainable futures. ISF is seeking an experienced Marketing and Communications Manager to help tell the world about its work and amplify the impact of world leading sustainability research. This is a rare opportunity to shape and build the institute's reputation and position ISF at the forefront of the sustainability research, innovation and engagament. About the Role Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will lead and evolve ISF's marketing and communications strategy from brand positioning to digital presence, ensuring ISF's research, partnerships and impact are communicated clearly and compellingly to audiences across Australia and internationally. You will work closely with the ISF Director, leadership team, research program leads and external partners to strengthen ISF's profile, support business development, enhance stakeholder engagement and build the institute's reputation as a leader in sustainability research. You will have real autonomy and a genuine seat at the leadership table. Leading a talented team of four (plus contractors), you will oversee strategic communications, digital channels, media engagement, content development and brand management in a fast paced, high volume environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and implement ISF's marketing and communications strategy, aligning activities with organisational priorities and growth objectives. Build ISF's profile and reputation through strategic communication, media engagement, thought leadership and digital marketing initiatives. Translate complex research into compelling stories for industry, government, media and public audiences. Oversee ISF's brand, digital presence, communication channels and marketing collateral to ensure consistency, quality and strategic positioning. Develop and deliver integrated campaigns across digital, social media, website, email and traditional communication platforms. Provide strategic communications advice to senior leaders, researchers and project teams. Build and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders across UTS, government, industry, funding bodies and partner organisations. Lead, mentor and develop the marketing and communications team, fostering a collaborative and high performing culture. Monitor, evaluate and report on marketing and communications performance, using insights to drive continuous improvement. About You In your cover letter, please respond to the selection criteria (max. 2 pages) The selection criteria are: Strategic communications experience: you have a demonstrated ability to conceptualise, develop and deliver a range of marketing and communications strategies, including offline and digital. The ability to identify and act on strategic media opportunities is desirable. Communication skills: You have outstanding written and verbal communication skills in a variety of formats and technologies. You have demonstrated an ability to translate complex topics into Plain English for a range of external platforms and audiences. You have experience mentoring colleagues on how to be persuasive communicators. Relationship management skills: You have proven your ability to lead a team and to work with multiple stakeholders including senior members of staff. You are experienced and confident influencing stakeholders, including senior staff and clients, to understand the value of strategic communications and to collaborate in a way that serves your communications objectives. Project management skills: You have excellent organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to manage changing and competing priorities and deadlines. You have demonstrated your ability to work under pressure. You are flexible in your approach and able to maximise results with limited resources. Remuneration Base Salary Range: $143,080 - $149,894 per annum (HEW 9) Plus 17% superannuation and access to a wide range of UTS employee benefits including flexible work practices, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.
