About the Role NAPS is seeking an Academic English Support Officer to provide high-quality English language support to students throughout their academic journey. The successful candidate will deliver both individual and group support to our culturally and linguistically diverse student cohort. Working collaboratively with academic staff, the role will identify language-related challenges and develop tailored support strategies to enhance student success. We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative individual who can work autonomously while contributing positively to the broader student and academic support framework. This is an ongoing part-time position, requiring availability for 2-3 days per week (Monday to Friday) at Surry Hills Campus (near Central station) and Parramatta Campuses (near Parramatta station). Key responsibilities Provide regular consultation hours to support students requiring additional English language assistance in their studies. Work closely with academic staff and other members of the NAPS team to develop strategic responses to language challenges identified within the student cohort. Identify opportunities to strengthen students' academic English skills and design targeted resources, workshops, and support initiatives. Deliver individual and group learning support sessions to enhance students' academic communication and study skills. Collaborate with teachers, student support services, and other stakeholders to improve the overall student learning experience and support academic outcomes. Monitor emerging student needs and recommend initiatives that promote academic success and student engagement. About you Relevant qualifications in English language teaching, applied linguistics, TESOL, CELTA, or an equivalent field. Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in any field. Degrees in Education and Applied Linguistic highly regarded. Work experience within a higher education environment supporting students undertaking Australian undergraduate and/or postgraduate qualifications. Experience supporting students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, with a demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and cultural sensitivity. Knowledge and understanding of contemporary learning and teaching practices within the higher education sector. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, academic leaders, and professional staff. Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated student-centred approach to service delivery. The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and develop innovative solutions to student learning needs. Full working rights in Australia.
