Working Location: Pavillion Damanasara Heights, KL. About the role The SEA Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Group's tax affairs across Southeast Asia, with primary responsibility for Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. The role will provide strong technical tax leadership while partnering closely with Finance, Accounting and business teams to ensure tax compliance, manage tax risks and support business decisions. Close communication and regular update to be maintained with Head Office in Shanghai, China. Key responsibilities Oversee corporate income tax, withholding tax, indirect tax, tax filings and other statutory tax obligations across SEA jurisdictions. Ensure appropriate tax governance, documentation and internal controls are maintained. Provide practical tax advice to management and business teams on new projects, contracts, business models and commercial arrangements. Assess tax implications of new investments, entities, financing arrangements, cross-border transactions and restructuring. Oversee the Group's transfer pricing policies and documentation across SEA including review intercompany transactions, ensure transfer pricing arrangements are aligned with the Group's business model and economic substance. Coordinate preparation and maintenance of local files, master files and other transfer pricing documentation. Lead and coordinate tax audits, investigations, refund claims and tax authority queries across SEA. Work closely with external tax advisers and internal stakeholders to develop audit strategies and responses. Maintain a regional tax risk register and track remediation actions. Advise on cross-border arrangements including financing, OECD BEPS, Pillar Two/global minimum tax and other international tax initiatives. Assess tax implications of regional operating models and cross-border flows. Identify and assess tax incentives available to the Group, including capital allowances, investment incentives and other applicable tax benefits. Act as the primary tax contact for Head Office, regional Finance and business stakeholders. Manage relationships with external tax advisers, auditors and tax authorities. Provide regular tax updates to Head Office management. Prepare tax risk and exposure assessments for significant transactions and projects. Prepare management reports covering compliance status, tax exposures, audits, incentives and key tax developments. About you Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Economics, Law or a related discipline. Professional tax/accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CTA, CIMA or equivalent is preferred. Typically, 5-8 years of relevant tax experience, with tax consulting firm, substantial regional or multinational exposure. Strong knowledge of corporate income tax and indirect tax. Strong understanding of transfer pricing and cross-border taxation. Practical experience dealing with tax audits, tax authorities and external advisers. Regional experience covering Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and/or Thailand is highly preferred. Strong technical tax judgement combined with a practical business mindset. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Comfortable challenging external advisers and internal stakeholders where necessary.
