About the role We are seeking a dedicated and organised Paralegal to join our team at Australian Family Lawyers in Varsity Lakes, Queensland. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in supporting our legal team and ensuring the smooth delivery of family law services to our clients. As a Paralegal, you will be at the heart of our operations, managing administrative tasks, coordinating with clients, and assisting lawyers in the preparation and execution of legal matters. Your contribution will be essential to maintaining our high standards of service and supporting the overall success of the firm. Key responsibilities Preparing legal documents, including affidavits, applications, correspondence and court filings relevant to family law matters Managing case files and maintaining accurate, up-to-date records of client information and legal proceedings Liaising with clients to gather necessary documentation, provide updates on case progress and answer general enquiries Coordinating with courts, other legal professionals and third parties to facilitate the smooth progression of matters Assisting lawyers in legal research and the preparation of advice and legal strategies for family law matters Managing administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, maintaining calendars and tracking important deadlines Reviewing and proofreading legal documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with court requirements Supporting the delivery of client services with professionalism, empathy and attention to detail Maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to professional ethical standards at all times What we're looking for A qualification in paralegal studies, law or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in a legal environment Proven experience working as a paralegal or in a similar legal support role, ideally within family law Strong proficiency with legal practice management software and Microsoft Office applications Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to clients Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously A thorough understanding of legal procedures, court rules and documentation requirements Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with lawyers and other team members in a fast-paced environment High levels of discretion, professionalism and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively Familiarity with family law matters, court processes and relevant legislation is highly desirable What we offer At Australian Family Lawyers, we value our team members and are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive workplace.
