The Dunedin City Council is looking for a Parking Enforcement Officer to join our Parking Services team. In this role, you'll help ensure parking spaces, footpaths, and public areas remain accessible and available for everyone who uses them. While enforcement is an important part of the role, it's not the whole story. Every day you'll be educating the public, assisting customers, resolving issues, and promoting responsible parking behaviours that help our city run smoothly. Key Responsibilities Educate the community on responsible parking and parking regulations. Monitor and enforce parking legislation, bylaws, and restrictions fairly and professionally. Provide excellent customer service, guidance, and issue resolution. Use technology and enforcement systems to accurately record information and issue infringements. Contribute to a positive team culture and organisational objectives. Supporting enforcement activities, including weekend and after-hours work as required. Work Pattern: This is a full-time role (40 hours per week). Work will typically be scheduled for 8-hour shifts between 7:30am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, and 6-hour shifts between 9:00am and 5:00pm on Saturdays or Sundays. Previous experience in enforcement, security, or customer service is helpful but not essential. Full training will be provided. About You We're looking for someone who: Enjoys working outdoors and being active in all weather conditions, with the fitness required for patrol duties. Has strong communication and customer service skills and engages confidently with a diverse range of people. Remains calm, professional, and resilient in challenging situations. Uses sound judgement, integrity, attention to detail, and initiative to solve problems and achieve positive outcomes independently and as part of a team. Can interpret and apply legislation, policies, and procedures.Is confident using mobile technology and digital systems. Has an understanding of, or willingness to learn about, te ao Māori and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
