Our Building Consents Unit plays a critical role in ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality building outcomes for Christchurch. Following significant growth and improvement over recent years, the team is now future-focused, and committed to delivering timely, consistent, and professional building consenting services About the role | Ko te mahi nei Working as part of the Building Consents Unit, you will provide customer service excellence by facilitating high-quality building consent outcomes. This includes processing building consents to support compliance with the Building Act and Building Code. You’ll be relied upon to provide clear, effective, and timely technical guidance, supporting customers, designers, builders, and other stakeholders through the consenting process. This role requires sound judgement, collaboration, and a pragmatic approach to achieving positive outcomes About you | Ko Koe Tēnei We are recruiting Building Consent/Control Officers at Levels 1, 2 and 3 and welcome applications from candidates at different stages of their career. A current competency for processing Building Consent applications at level 1,2 or 3 is required You will also bring: Experience building and maintaining effective relationships with customers, their agents, and internal teams Confidence dealing with complex issues and making practical, well-informed decisions Sound knowledge of the Building Act, Building Code, and relevant standards Familiarity with industry best practice, construction methods, and building techniques across a range of building types A collaborative mindset and a commitment to quality service delivery What's in it for you? Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
