It is responsible for executing the Government's borrowing requirements and providing financial market expertise to the wider Crown. NZDM also contributes to the conduct of sustainable and stable fiscal policy. The debt programme provides the critical sovereign benchmark that supports the functioning of New Zealand’s financial markets. Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the Role We are looking to recruit for a Business Delivery Specialist in the New Zealand Debt Management (NZDM) division on a permanent basis. It’s an exciting new opportunity for someone with a unique combination of project and people skills to make their mark and help get complex projects over the line. This role works across NZDM and is tasked with ensuring multi-faceted initiatives, are well planned, well managed and delivered on time. Using strong project management, sound judgement and effective influencing and facilitation skills, the role will coordinate work across teams, managing risks and dependencies. It will look to not only highlight barriers to progress but also provide possible pathways to a solution. The role is required to provide information and updates to enable effective and ongoing prioritisation and decision-making across NZDM activities by NZDM’s senior leaders. In this role you will: Lead the delivery of initiatives, ensuring milestones, scope, risks, dependencies, and benefits are effectively managed and achieved Provide expert advice on delivery approaches, tailoring methodologies to suit varying levels of complexity and organisational needs Produce clear, timely reporting and performance insights to support governance, decision-making, and successful outcomes Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, and manage effective communication about and within projects Proactively identify, assess, and manage risks, issues, and interdependencies, escalating and recommending solutions where required Foster a collaborative, high performing delivery environment by setting priorities, removing barriers, and maintaining momentum Apply strong judgement, problem solving, facilitation, and negotiation skills to navigate challenges and support delivery success This is a permanent, part-time position (24 hours per week) based in Wellington, New Zealand, with the potential to expand to a full-time role as business needs evolve. Ō pūmanawa | About You To be successful in this role, you will bring: Relevant tertiary qualification, with change management and/or project management credentials or equivalent experience Proven experience leading complex projects or multi-stream initiatives to successful outcomes Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels Demonstrated capability in strategic thinking, delivery planning, risk management, and cross-functional coordination Excellent communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights Highly organised and self-motivated, with strong judgement, integrity, attention to detail, and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and public sector values Ko ngā hua | What we Offer This is an important job and that’s why we’ll do all we can to support your success.
