We are seeking an experienced Casual Excavation Operator / Plumbing Labourer to join our team based in Cairns. The Role This position will suit someone with hands-on experience working alongside plumbers and civil crews, particularly in excavation and underground service installation. The successful applicant will assist with a variety of plumbing and civil projects, including trenching, pipe installation, drainage works, site preparation, and general labouring duties. Key Responsibilities Operating excavators and assisting with underground plumbing works Excavation for sewer, water, stormwater, and hydraulic services Working closely with licensed plumbers and project teams Pipe handling, trench preparation, backfilling, and site clean-up Supporting commercial, industrial, and civil plumbing projects Maintaining a strong focus on workplace safety and quality workmanship About You To be successful in this role, you will have: Proven experience operating excavators in a plumbing or civil environment Experience excavating around underground services Previous experience working alongside plumbers highly regarded Understanding of trenching, drainage, and pipe installation processes Strong safety awareness and reliable work ethic Ability to work independently and as part of a team Current driver’s licence (required) Current excavation and skid steer licence Desirable Relevant plant operating experience Relevant truck licence Experience with commercial or industrial plumbing projects Experience working in remote or regional environment About Briody Plumbing Briody Plumbing operates across Far North Queensland, delivering commercial, industrial, residential, and remote plumbing solutions.
