GWG is partnering with a well-established and highly regarded surveying and spatial consultancy to recruit an experienced Utility Locator to join their Newcastle team. The Opportunity As a Utility Locator, you’ll work across a diverse range of infrastructure, development and construction projects, locating and mapping underground services to support safe and accurate project delivery. You’ll work both independently in the field and alongside experienced surveyors, engineers and project teams, with access to modern locating equipment and technology. Your responsibilities will include: Locating and identifying underground utilities and services across a variety of project sites Using electromagnetic locating equipment, GPR and other utility detection technologies Interpreting DBYD plans, service drawings and existing site information Marking and recording underground services accurately Collecting field data and assisting with the preparation of utility plans and documentation Working closely with surveyors, engineers, contractors and clients Ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with relevant standards and procedures About You We’re keen to speak with experienced Utility Locators who have a strong understanding of underground services and enjoy working in the field. Ideally, you’ll bring: Previous experience in Utility Locating, Service Locating or a similar field-based role Experience using electromagnetic locating equipment and/or GPR Strong knowledge of underground utilities and service infrastructure The ability to interpret plans, drawings and DBYD information A strong commitment to safety and accuracy Good communication skills and the ability to work confidently with clients and project teams Relevant utility locating, surveying or industry qualifications/certifications will be highly regarded Why Newcastle?
