Finance/Accounting Manager

The role As we scale, we're looking for a Finance/Accounting Manager to run the operational backbone of our finance function - accurate, timely reporting and close, day-to-day compliance, and leadership of an Assistant Accountant. You'll work closely with the Head of Business Operations, who owns budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy, while you bring a high-ownership mindset to the day-to-day running of the finance function. Hybrid or Remote: While Blockbluelight's Head Office is in Hamilton, this role can be based anywhere in NZ as a remote role. What you'll own Month-end close, financial reporting, and variance analysis across multiple currencies and jurisdictions (NZ, AU, US, CA, UK & EU) Leadership and day-to-day development of an Assistant Accountant Routine tax compliance filings across jurisdictions, escalating any complex or judgement-based positions Leading the annual external audit - escalating any material issues or judgement calls to the Head of Business Operations Supporting the annual budget process and rolling forecasts - preparing data, templates, and first-draft numbers for the Head of Business Operations to shape and finalise Producing management reports and dashboards What you'll bring CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent) 3–5 years in finance/accounting, including some supervisory or team-lead experience Experience in multi-currency e-commerce, or a comparable multi-jurisdiction environment Proven experience with external audit processes Experience with Xero and/or adjacent ERPs (Fulfil, Cin7, Unleashed) an advantage A high-ownership mindset - you see what needs doing and do it Nice to have: multi-jurisdiction tax exposure, Shopify revenue reconciliation experience, scale-up background.
