Head of Financial Planning & Analysis

Mō te tūnga | About the role We are seeking a Head of Financial Planning & Analysis (Head of FP&A) to establish and lead a new strategic finance capability at Whakaata Māori. This newly created, senior finance leadership role provides strategic financial insight, long-term planning, investment decision support, and financial sustainability leadership across the organisation. Reporting to the Kaiurungi Ahumoni | Director of Finance and leading the Finance Business Partner, you will own the organisation's long-term financial modelling, investment appraisal, and governance-level reporting to the Board and Audit & Risk Committee. You will also lead the financial requirements, business case and benefits realisation for major finance transformation initiatives, including ERP replacement, and play a key role in building organisational financial capability and performance reporting. This is a full-time, permanent position based at our head office in East Tāmaki. Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities Strategic & Long-Term Financial Planning Lead long-term financial planning and modelling, including multi-year P&L, balance sheet and cashflow projections Own the organisation's annual budgeting and forecasting cycle, directing input from the Finance Business Partner Lead scenario planning and financial sustainability analysis for major strategic decisions Investment & Commercial Decision Support Lead investment appraisal (IRR, NPV, sensitivity analysis) for capital and investment decisions Lead financial input into significant business cases and major procurement evaluations Identify and escalate financial risk on major investment and commercial decisions Governance Reporting & Organisational Performance Lead governance-level papers for the Board and Audit & Risk Committee Lead strategic financial input to external reporting obligations, including funding agencies and Select Committee responses Design and maintain an organisation-wide financial performance (KPI) framework and lead external benchmarking People Leadership & Finance Transformation Lead and develop the Finance Business Partner, providing day-to-day direction and performance leadership Lead the financial requirements, business case and benefits realisation for major finance transformation initiatives, including our ERP replacement Establish planning and forecasting cadences that support disciplined, well-informed decision-making Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | What you'll bring Essential CA or CPA qualified 8+ years' senior finance leadership experience, including FP&A, business partnering and/or commercial finance Demonstrated experience leading budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning cycles end-to-end Advanced financial modelling and governance-level/Board reporting experience Proven experience leading, developing and managing the performance of finance professionals Preferred Public sector or Crown entity experience Familiarity with Treasury Better Business Case standards Experience leading major finance or business transformation projects (e.g. ERP replacement) Experience with property, asset or capital investment financial planning Experience designing organisational KPI or performance measurement frameworks Ko wai mātou | Who we are Whakaata Māori is Aotearoa New Zealand's indigenous national broadcaster that inspires viewers to connect with te ao Māori through compelling and authentic Māori content.
