Last Mile Operations Department Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION Transport Network & Cost Optimization Develop, implement, and optimize daily transportation networks and delivery routes to align with demand, service level agreements (SLAs), safety standards, and quality requirements. Manage and negotiate with transport subcontractors to ensure sufficient fleet capacity, secure resources, and economize overall transportation costs. Operational Excellence & Contingency Planning Oversee day-to-day logistics operations to deliver high performance, achieving both internal company KPIs and customer requirements. Proactively initiate action plans and contingency strategies to support peak volume fluctuations and ensure continuous service standards under operational constraints. Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, developing, and executing plans to enhance operational performance and cost efficiency. Safety & Fleet Management Monitor and enforce standard transportation practices, including scheduled vehicle inspection and preventive maintenance. Conduct thorough investigations into operational issues or accidents to identify root causes and collaborate on setting preventive safety measures. Team Leadership & People Development Supervise and guide daily team operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and customer needs. Coach team members on daily tasks and provide timely performance feedback to foster professional growth and alignment with the company vision. JOB SPECIFICATION Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. 5-7+years of proven experience in transportation and logistics operations management (supervisory or managerial experience preferred). Strong track record in subcontractor management, route planning, and transport cost optimization. Sound knowledge of transport safety standards, vehicle maintenance procedures, and regulatory requirements. Excellent leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and crisis management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage teams and liaise with stakeholders.
