The Company We are partnering with a well established NZ organisation to recruit a Financial controller/Manager who will serve as a second-in-command to a Head of Finance and play a key role in supporting the ongoing success and growth of the business. This company is a well regarded throughout NZ, with multiple locations, well recognised brands and within head office, a lot of tenured individuals. The Role This is a highly visible position offering both leadership responsibility and hands-on involvement across financial reporting, commercial decision support, planning, sustainability reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will provide leadership across core finance activities while partnering closely with senior business leaders. This is a diverse role suited to someone who enjoys balancing technical accounting expertise with commercial influence and operational engagement. Key responsibilities include: Leading monthly, interim and annual financial reporting processes Supporting statutory compliance, external audits and technical accounting matters Driving budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities Delivering insightful management reporting and commercial analysis Leading climate-related disclosures and sustainability reporting initiatives Partnering with leaders across the business to support strategic decision-making Supporting treasury, insurance and risk management activities Identifying and implementing process, systems and control improvements Coaching and developing a high-performing finance team Acting as deputy to the Head of Finance when required. Your Profile To be successful, you will bring: CA ANZ qualification (or equivalent) At least 5 years of relevant finance or accounting experience Strong IFRS and financial reporting expertise Proven experience managing stakeholder relationships at a senior level Excellent communication and influencing skills Strong analytical and commercial problem-solving capability Leadership experience, either through direct people management or mentoring A proactive approach to driving improvement and change. Experience within a large corporate, listed environment, retail organisation, or professional services firm will be highly regarded. Exposure to NZX reporting obligations and disclosure reporting would be advantageous.
