About the role Design and develop data pipelines and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) solutions using Databricks, Apache Spark and Delta Lake. Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into robust technical implementations. Key responsibilities Design and develop data pipelines and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) solutions using Databricks, Apache Spark and Delta Lake Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into robust technical implementations Optimise data processing workflows for performance, scalability and cost-efficiency Implement data governance, quality assurance and monitoring frameworks to ensure data integrity and reliability Develop and maintain SQL and Python-based data transformation logic within the Databricks environment Build and support data infrastructure on cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure or GCP, depending on project requirements Conduct code reviews, provide technical mentorship and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices Troubleshoot data pipeline failures and performance issues, implementing timely resolutions Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering and Databricks ecosystem Requirements 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering or software engineering roles with a focus on data platforms Proven expertise with Databricks, including hands-on experience with Databricks SQL, Databricks Workflows and Delta Lake Strong proficiency in Apache Spark and distributed data processing concepts Solid programming skills in Python, Scala or SQL, with the ability to write clean, maintainable and well-tested code Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, Azure or GCP, and associated data services Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, dimensional modelling and data architecture patterns Understanding of software engineering best practices including version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines and testing frameworks Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills Preferred: Experience with machine learning pipelines, medallion architecture patterns or MLOps frameworks Preferred: Databricks Certified Associate or equivalent certification Interested candidates, please click on the following link to begin your job search journey and submit your curriculum vitae (CV) directly. That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
