Tono mai ki tētahi tūnga ki te Kaunihera o Ōtautahi The Christchurch City Council Community Parks team is growing, and we’re looking for a Parks and Gardens Maintenance Officer to join us. Our team looks after Ōtautahi Christchurch’s parks, open spaces and cemeteries, helping keep these places looking their best for the people who use them. About the role | Ko te mahi nei As a Parks and Gardens Maintenance Officer, you’ll help care for and improve parks and cemeteries across the city. This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety, where you’ll see the impact of your work every day. You’ll have the opportunity to: Help shape how we care for and maintain our parks and open spaces. Connect with local communities and help deliver services that work for them. Grow your career with opportunities to enhance your technical skills or develop your leadership capability. Your day-to-day work will include: Mowing, line trimming and general grounds maintenance. Spraying, weeding, pruning and planting to maintain and enhance our parks and gardens. Using your landscaping skills to maintain, improve and support the redevelopment of parks and open spaces. Working across a variety of parks, gardens and cemeteries throughout Ōtautahi Christchurch. About you | Ko Koe Tēnei You’ll be a team player who takes pride in their work, enjoys the outdoors and works respectfully with a diverse range of people and communities. You’ll have: A full New Zealand driver licence. A Level 4 National Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent, or extensive experience in a similar role. A practical understanding of horticultural and parks maintenance. An open-minded and respectful approach. A Grow Safe qualification, Class 2 licence and W endorsement would be highly desirable but aren’t essential. We can support you to gain these qualifications if you don’t already have them. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
