About the Role As an Apprentice Security Technician, you’ll develop the skills and practical experience required to install, maintain and troubleshoot electronic security systems. You’ll gain hands-on experience with access control, intruder detection, CCTV, intercoms, networking and monitoring systems, as well as installation, programming, maintenance and fault finding. You’ll work alongside experienced technicians and mentors across a variety of customer sites, gradually building your technical skills and confidence. The role is a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. However, on-call and overtime may be required. Once suitably trained, this role may require participation in our 24/7 after-hours on-call roster. Our 4-Year Apprenticeship Programme Our structured programme is designed to support Apprentice Security Technicians over a 4-year period with; relevant on the job training, supporting theory through industry approved training, product training, and an assigned mentor. The programme includes: All relevant Licensing and Safety Certifications The New Zealand Certificate in Electronic Security (Level 4) Industry leading; Networking, Access Control and CCTV product training. A 4-year bonded Apprenticeship is to be agreed prior to commencement. What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who is genuinely interested in technology and wants to build a career in electronic security. You’ll ideally have: A practical attitude and willingness to learn Good communication skills and a strong work ethic Reliability and the ability to work as part of a team NCEA Level 2 (or equivalent) Previous experience or study in trades, electrical, electronics, engineering or security would be advantageous A current NZ driver licence (Full Licence preferred) Essential Requirements Commitment to completing the 4-year apprenticeship and required training Ability to obtain and maintain the required security licence Ability to successfully complete required background checks, including criminal conviction and police checks Ability to successfully complete any required pre-employment medical and drug testing ABOUT ADVANCED SECURITY Advanced Security are leaders in electronic security solutions.
