Sacred Heart Girls’ College is a Catholic State Integrated school based in New Plymouth, for students from Years 7 to 13, which celebrates the charism gifted to us by our founding order, the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions. The successful applicant will accept the condition to support, uphold and be positively involved in the special character of the school. We are seeking a proactive and hands-on School Caretaker to join our property and maintenance team for 30 hours a week. About the Role This diverse and hands-on position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the school community. The role includes the upkeep of facilities, grounds, vehicles and equipment. The successful candidate will help ensure the school remains safe, welcoming, and well maintained for students, staff and visitors. As a key member of the maintenance team, you will: Manage and coordinate maintenance requests across the school. Liaise with and oversee external contractors to ensure work is completed effectively and safely. Support and promote all health and safety initiatives and compliance requirements. Maintain school buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment to a high standard. Help ensure the school remains safe, secure, clean, and always well-presented. Contribute to the efficient day-to-day operation of school facilities and infrastructure. About You To be successful in this role, you'll bring: Experience in property maintenance, facilities management, caretaking, or a similar role. Practical skills across general repairs and maintenance. A sound understanding of health and safety requirements. Strong organisational and problem-solving skills. The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities. Good communication and relationship-building skills. Computer literacy. A proactive, reliable, and self-motivated approach. Essential Requirements Full New Zealand Driver Licence. Physical fitness and willingness to undertake hands-on outdoor work. Ability to pass a Police Vetting check.
