The Drug Detection Agency (TDDA) is the largest provider of workplace drug testing services in New Zealand, performing health and safety focused collection and screening of urine, oral fluid and hair samples from workforce personnel. This role is primarily workplace drug and alcohol testing including collecting and analysing urine and oral fluid samples on client sites, working from our mobile van in the Mid Canterbury region and sometimes South Canterbury. There is also a small requirement to do some admin work associated with booking in testing. Being great with people is also important as developing relationships with our clients is a crucial part of the job as well as working with our teams in other TDDA branches. A sense of humour, strong work ethic, excellent time management, being able to cope under pressure and having the ability to work unsupervised are essential for this role. The position is working solation in some respects, though you can and will have constant contact with our other team members and work closely with our fantastic Technician based in Timaru. This is an unusual role in that it is part time role with variable hours (no set hours). This is because hours worked are dictated by our clients and can change daily. While you may have several hours off during the middle of the day or have late starts, there is no way to predict definite hours due to the nature of our work and the requirement to sometimes respond immediately to a client. In the last few months, hours have varied from 18 to 35 hours for the week. There is also a requirement to do “on call” every second week. This is to cover after hours call outs. You are paid for being on call and paid per call out. There is a significant amount of driving in this role as you go from work site to work site. Full training is given for the role. You must be able to drive a manual van, pass a pre-employment drug test and a Driver Criminal History check.
