About the Role NCF is looking for an experienced Civil Surveyor to provide accurate setting out and survey support across our piling, excavation and basement construction projects. Working closely with site engineers, piling crews and our in-house structural engineering team, you'll ensure every pile, retention wall, capping beam and excavation is positioned, levelled and recorded to the tightest tolerances. This is a hands-on role across multiple live sites, suited to a surveyor who's comfortable working alongside heavy plant and piling rigs, and who takes real ownership of the accuracy of the work underground and out of sight. Key Responsibilities Setting Out & Survey Control • Establish and maintain survey control, benchmarks and reference points across active sites • Set out pile positions, retention lines, capping beams, ground anchors and excavation limits • Set out for basement construction, including levels, grid lines and structural elements • Provide accurate levels and grades to piling rig operators, excavator operators and site crews Earthworks & Excavation • Carry out cut/fill and volume surveys to support bulk and detailed excavation works • Monitor excavation depths and batters against design drawings and engineering tolerances • Support contaminated soil removal and remediation works with accurate survey data Piling & Structural Support • Set out and verify bored and CFA pile locations, casings and ground anchors • Check pile and structural positions against engineering drawings and flag discrepancies early • Work closely with NCF's in-house structural engineers on design and set-out queries Quality & Documentation • Produce accurate as-built surveys and records for completed works • Maintain survey equipment, calibration records and data files • Coordinate with external surveyors and consultants where required • Uphold NCF's safety, quality and environmental standards on every site About You • Proven experience as a civil or site surveyor, ideally within piling, excavation, basement construction or civil infrastructure • Confident operating survey equipment • Working knowledge of design and survey software • Strong understanding of set-out for piling rigs, retention systems and deep excavation • High accuracy and attention to detail, with the confidence to flag issues before they become problems • Comfortable working across multiple live construction sites • Relevant surveying qualification (Certificate IV, Diploma or degree in Surveying) highly regarded • Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with engineers, foremen and plant operators Why NCF • Competitive salary, backed by a well-established, growing construction business • Work across a varied and technically interesting mix of piling, excavation and basement projects • See your work reflected in some of Melbourne's most significant construction and infrastructure sites • Based at our South Melbourne head office, with travel to active project sites
