Our client is a boutique Sydney firm specialising exclusively in environment and planning law, competing directly against top-tier firms and commanding premium fees for the calibre of its work. This is a permanent opportunity for an Environment & Planning Lawyer at 3-5 PAE to join a tight-knit team known for genuinely low staff turnover and a track record of promoting from within. Salary and Features : • $135,000-$175,000 DOE, competitive. • A firm that has actually taken paralegals through to partner and to Special Counsel, so the pathway here is proven, not promised • Not siloed: junior lawyers through to Associates work across the firm, with fortnightly meetings to discuss live cases • Private offices in a premium Sydney CBD building, with onsite dining and bar facilities • Genuine flexibility around how you work, even without a rigid formal WFH policy dictating your week • A realistic, hourly-budget billable target rather than a fee-chasing KPI • Low staff turnover and annual reviews, a real signal of how people are actually treated once they're through the door • Led by a genuinely engaged, well-regarded CEO About the role You'll work across our client's core specialisms in environment and planning law, with genuine variety across the caseload. • Rural land acquisitions and compulsory acquisition matters • Waste law • Environmental and heritage law • Tree law disputes and advice • A pro bono component, genuine public-interest exposure alongside commercial work • Direct involvement across matters rather than a narrow silo, working alongside lawyers from junior through to senior level Requirements for the role: • 3-5 years' PAE in environment and planning law, or closely related practice • Current NSW practising certificate • Genuine attention to detail: candidates complete a practical, legislation-based skills exercise as part of the interview process, used as a real filter • Comfortable working to an hourly-budget billable target rather than chasing fee numbers • A collaborative approach, this is a team where junior lawyers work across matters rather than staying siloed • Based in or able to comfortably commute to Sydney CBD Interested in this position?
