Head of Data

About the Role In our enterprise ecosystem, data is the primary engine driving commercial growth, customer engagement, and operational excellence. We are seeking a business-driven Head of Data to bridge the gap between technical execution and business revenue generation across our multi-unit operations. In this strategic role, you will lead our end-to-end data strategy with a 60% focus on Business & Digital Marketing Analytics (driving insights that directly boost sales and Business Unit performance) and a 40% focus on Technical Oversight & Team Leadership (coaching Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Analysts to deliver enterprise-grade data products). You will act as a key partner to executive leadership and BU leads, transforming complex raw data into actionable commercial advantages. Key Responsibilities 1. Commercial & Business Impact (60% Focus) Collaborate directly with Business Units (BUs) and Commercial Marketing teams to transform data insights into actionable strategies that directly increase revenue, campaign conversions, and Customer Lifetime Value (LTV). Deep-dive into consumer behaviors across digital platforms and physical retail touchpoints to identify new commercial opportunities, market gaps, and sales optimizations. Translate complex analytics and data science models into concise, executive-level narratives and strategic business recommendations. 2. Team Leadership & Technical Enablement (40% Focus) Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing data division (4–5+ direct reports) across Data Engineering, Data Science, and BI/Analytics. Apply a coaching leadership mindset to the Data Engineering function—helping establish robust pipeline standards, resolving technical bottlenecks, and ensuring high delivery quality. Foster a collaborative, data-driven culture that strictly aligns technical roadmaps with commercial enterprise priorities. 3. Data Governance & Architecture Oversight Oversee the continuous evolution of our enterprise data stack, seamlessly transitioning from legacy data infrastructure (e.g., SSIS) to modern cloud environments (e.g., BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake). Enforce rigorous Data Governance, data quality standards, information security, and strict adherence to PDPA and regulatory standards across all customer datasets. Qualifications Proven track record in a Large-Scale / Enterprise Retail or Chain Store business (Multi-billion Baht turnover environment) operating in single-brand, mall-centric, or multi-branch formats. Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Quantitative Economics, or a related field. Leadership Scope: Minimum 3–5 years of direct leadership experience managing a multidisciplinary data team of 4–5+ direct reports (covering Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and BI Analysts). Core Competencies: Business & Martech Acumen (60%): Exceptional ability to leverage analytics to solve commercial pain points, measure omnichannel marketing ROI, and optimize end-to-end customer journeys. Technical Literacy (40%): Strong foundation in data pipelines, analytics architecture, and modern cloud platforms to guide and evaluate DE/DS technical outputs effectively. Coaching Leadership: Proven track record in mentoring and elevating Data Engineers and Analysts through hands-on technical and strategic guidance. Preferred Background: Background as a Data Scientist within an organization operating under high data-maturity standards is highly advantageous. Direct experience working in an Embedded Data Model (embedded directly within Marketing or Commercial BU functions).
