Workshop Technician - Locksmith and Security

About the role The Workshop Technician will play a key role in our business by assisting customers both in the retail environment and within the workshop. This position requires a blend of customer service skills and hands-on technical ability. The ideal candidate will contribute to our goal of delivering exceptional service and will support the operations of our workshop. Key responsibilities Greet and assist customers in the retail shop, providing knowledgeable information about locksmith products and services. Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently while maintaining a friendly and professional manner. Maintain organised displays and inventory of products such as locks, keys, and security systems. Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, or in person regarding our products, services, and pricing. Educate customers about different security options that best meet their needs. Assist in the workshop with assembling and repairing locks and cutting keys. Learn and apply locksmithing skills under the guidance of experienced locksmiths, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards. Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment to ensure efficient workflow. Perform routine maintenance and inspections on tools and equipment. Assist in inventory management by tracking workshop supplies and materials, reporting shortages as necessary. About you Previous experience in locksmithing, carpentry, or a related trade preferred. Proven mechanical aptitude. Familiarity with hand and power tools and equipment. Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable manner. Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a team environment. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Detail-oriented with a strong problem-solving capability. Basic computer skills for sales processing and inventory management. Ability to lift, stand for extended periods, and perform manual tasks. Clean New Zealand Drivers Licence and New Zealand Residency or valid New Zealand Work Visa.
