Solar Electrician & Installer

Blenheim, Marlborough | Full time | Competitive hourly rate based on experience Company vehicle + phone + specialist solar & battery work + genuine progression Goodyer Electrical & Solar is looking for a NZ Registered Electrician to join our specialist solar installation team in Marlborough. This role is suited to an electrician who wants to build their career in solar PV, battery storage and renewable energy technology and be part of an industry that is growing quickly. You must have been a qualified electrician for a minimum of two years , allowing you to work towards achieving your solar endorsement . Previous solar installation experience is an advantage, but it is not essential. What matters most is that you are already a capable electrician, have a genuine interest in the renewable energy sector and want to develop your skills in solar and battery installations. You'll be working predominantly across residential and commercial solar and battery projects throughout Marlborough. You'll be involved in: Residential solar PV installations Commercial solar PV installations Battery storage systems Enphase microinverter systems Sigenergy hybrid and battery systems Roof-mounted and ground-mounted solar arrays Solar switchboard and protection upgrades AC and DC solar electrical work PV testing and commissioning Battery backup and energy management systems EV charging integration Solar fault finding and servicing Monitoring and communications setup Customer commissioning and system handover You'll work alongside our installation team and take responsibility for the electrical side of projects from installation through to testing, commissioning and final handover. We care about doing solar properly. That means neat installations, correct cable management, proper testing, compliance, good communication with the customer and a finished system we're happy to put our name on. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: You'll need to be a NZ Registered Electrician with a current Practising Licence , with a minimum of two years' experience as a qualified electrician . You'll also need to hold a full NZ driver's licence and be comfortable working at heights. Previous solar experience is an advantage, particularly experience with: Grid-connected solar PV Inverter or microinverter systems Battery storage PV testing and commissioning Solar switchboard integration Residential or commercial solar installations More importantly, we're looking for someone who: Has a genuine interest in solar, batteries and renewable energy Wants to specialise further in the renewable sector Produces high-quality electrical work Takes testing and compliance seriously Can work independently and solve problems Takes ownership of their jobs Communicates well with customers Is physically fit and comfortable working on roofs Works well as part of a close-knit team Wants to keep learning as solar technology evolves If you've got experience running jobs, supervising apprentices or leading a team, we'd especially like to hear from you. There is room for the right person to grow into a senior role and take on more responsibility as our solar team continues to expand.
