The Details Location: Karaka Standard Hours: 7:00am - 3:00pm, Monday to Friday. Occasional Saturdays with notice Pay: $40 - $50 per hour (depending on experience) Team: Small, supportive team of 5 About the Role This is a hands-on mechanical role focused on keeping plant and machinery running efficiently during daily production. You’ll be responsible for the overall running and upkeep of plant equipment and site infrastructure, including machinery, water systems, and general site assets. Your responsibilities will include: Starting up and shutting down plant equipment Calibrating machinery (including stunners, chains, and spin chillers) Responding to breakdowns quickly to minimise downtime Carrying out preventative maintenance (daily, weekly, monthly) Supporting production during busy periods where quick fixes are needed General site and equipment maintenance (including water systems and plant) There are time pressures during production, so being able to think on your feet and act quickly is key - but you’ll be supported by a small, experienced team. What We’re Looking For Proven experience as a Maintenance Fitter / Mechanical Tradesperson A completed mechanical apprenticeship (NZCE or overseas equivalent) Experience working in FMCG or a production-based environment Exposure to process-driven industries (continuous flow / production line environments) Comfortable working in a hands-on meat processing environment Able to troubleshoot and fix issues quickly on the go Good communication skills and NZ work experience preferred Reliable, practical, and team-focused Why This Role?
