System Administrator

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and proactive IT System Administrator to join our team on a 1-year secondment basis , directly stationed at a Hong Kong Bank . The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily administration, maintenance, and support of the bank's IT infrastructure, with a strong focus on Unix/Linux servers, enterprise storage, and backup systems. Key Responsibilities System Administration: Perform daily monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Unix & Linux server infrastructure to ensure high availability. Storage & Backup Management: Manage enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS) and oversee daily backup operations, including regular backup restoration tests. System Security & Patching: Execute regular OS patching, vulnerability remediation, and system upgrades in accordance with the bank's security policies. Incident & Problem Management: Respond to system alerts, investigate root causes, and provide technical support to resolve infrastructure issues efficiently. Documentation: Maintain up-to-date system configurations, operational procedures, and disaster recovery documentation. Requirements Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline. Minimum 3 years of experience in IT system administration, preferably within the banking, financial, or large corporate sector. Solid hands-on experience in Unix/Linux environments (e.g., IBM AIX RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), SUSE Linux). Strong knowledge of Enterprise Storage (e.g., NetApp, Huawei Dorado) and Backup solutions (e.g. Commvault, veeam). Familiarity with shell scripting (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation is an advantage. A good team player with strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently under pressure.
