About the role In the Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBC) Unit, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal services to PBCs relating to corporate governance and compliance in accordance with the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (Cth), Native Title Act 1993 (Cth), Aboriginal Land Act 1991 (Qld) and Native Title (Prescribed Bodies Corporate) Regulations 1999 (Cth). Key responsibilities Provide comprehensive legal services to PBCs relating to corporate governance and compliance Support native title groups to engage in negotiations with various stakeholders Undertake regular travel throughout Cape York About you Paralegal, law graduate or admitted solicitor Eligible for admission as a solicitor in Queensland Exemplary written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on attention to detail Relationship building skills with clients and stakeholders, preferably in cross-cultural settings Demonstrated ability to work in a high-pressure environment while managing competing priorities Excellent time management and organisational skills Experience in native title, property and/or commercial law is highly desirable About us Cape York Land Council (CYLC) is the native title representative body for Cape York. CYLC has successfully pursued the recognition of Aboriginal land rights and native title and led innovative reform on the Cape. This includes supporting native title groups to engage in negotiations with various stakeholders, implement comprehensive Traditional Owner-led agreements, build strong Aboriginal nations through the establishment of prescribed bodies corporates.
