This growth has opened up an opportunity for a motivated engineering surveyor to join our talented close-knit team. Specialising in Civil, Building, Rail and Drone Surveying, we seek an experienced Engineering Surveyor to join our team. About the Role: Reporting to the Survey Manager, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality surveying services across various engineering projects, including pipelines, roads, bridges, buildings and feature surveys. This role will involve regular work in regional Victoria, so ideally someone based in the Albury/Wodonga or surrounding regions would be preferred. Your responsibilities will include: Perform survey calculations, drafting and reports where required using the appropriate survey software; Plan and manage daily survey tasks, ensuring alignment with project timeframes. Liaise with clients to ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with their requirements; Collaborate with the team to ensure that all work is understood and performed efficiently and effectively; Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure all processes are met; and Display a commitment to safety and efficiency in field and office-based surveying tasks. About you: First and foremost, you have a passion for the surveying field. You will bring at least 3 years’ experience in this field and ideally hold a minimum Certificate III in Surveying (not essential dependant on your level of experience). Additionally, you will have: Proficiency in using AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center and/or 12D Knowledge in using Trimble/Leica survey equipment; Ability to work both autonomously and in a team; Strong time management and organisational skills; and Current Australian driver’s license. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one.
